Born and raised in Philadelphia, Grammy Award winner BILLY PAUL began singing at the age of 12 and sometimes performed on local radio shows. Drawing inspiration from his family's collection of 78's, Paul would incorporate Jazz, R&B and Pop into his style, resulting in a unique sound that became synonymous with Philadelphia International Records throughout the 1970's. Billy became well known on his local circuit, singing in clubs and later around college campuses all over the country, which later led to him performing live with some of the biggest names in black music of the 60's and 70's including Dinah Washington, Miles Davis, Nina Simone and Roberta Flack to name a few.

Having signed to the Gamble label Paul released his first LP FEELIN' GOOD AT THE CADILLAC CLUB in 1968, which started a long standing and very successful relationship with the formidable song writing and production duo Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. FEELIN' GOOD... is an exciting studio- "live club date” recording combination and was produced entirely by the man himself.
Paul sings every one of these songs with honesty and commitment that matches the excitement and intensity he would bring out on to the stage as a seasoned live performer and fully introduced him to the music world as the complete vocal package. On the killer up-tempo jazz tracks such as ‘Billy Boy’ and ‘Bluesette’ (the latter being the only single from the LP) Paul exercises his vocal power and subtlety and employs his trademark innovative phrasing.Other standout performances on what is a set of predominantly contemporary standards are ‘Clear Day,’ ‘That's Life,’ ‘Feelin’ Good’ and the closer "Somewhere.” After Paul moved to, and gained immediate success with Gamble and Huff's Philadelphia International label in the early 70's, FEELIN' GOOD... was re-packaged and re-released in 1973. You will find both LP sleeve covers represented in this package.
